When preparing for a marathon, your focus should be on a combination of speed, strength, and endurance runs.

By incorporating speed, your lactate turning point will improve enabling you to race at a more comfortable pace. By incorporating strength, you will avoid injuries and be strong enough to deal with the harshness of the marathon.
You have sent us the most phenomenal pictures of the places you and your T have been running. It has been very difficult to choose one winner each week. The March 2018 winner will be selected in the first week of April from the weekly winners. The monthly prize for March is a fabulous hamper from Deep Heat.       After recently becoming the first 42.2km race on the continent to receive Gold Label recognition from the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), the annual road running festival joins various other top-flight races around the globe in forming a global unification tool.
Charity entries are now open. Why not take on the challenge of running The Sanlam Cape Town Marathon in aid of a charity of your choice? This way you will be improving not only your own physical, mental and emotional state but also that of your beneficiaries.       The iconic GT-2000 running shoe shakes up the running shoe market with its updated fresh new take and design. It is not only lighter than its predecessor but also more responsive and lively with every step, thanks to the introduction of a new Flytefoam and SpEVAfoam midsole.
As the official hotel partner, Tsogo Sun has a variety of hotels conveniently located in the heart of Cape Town.       Do you cramp up while running? This is why – and what you can – and can’t – do about it. The first time I ever experienced a cramp was at night, after a long run.
The SANLAM CAPE TOWN MARATHON would like to thank its SPONSORS and PARTNERS for their ongoing support in enabling the running of this iconic city marathon.
