Date: 14 August 2023

To the Esteemed Residents of the Atlantic Seaboard,

Dear residents,

We hope this letter finds you in good spirits. The 2023 Sanlam Cape Town Marathon is fast approaching, and as the anticipation builds, we wish to ensure that the race goes smoothly for both participants and residents. It is in this regard that we have outlined some key logistics pertaining to road closures and parking to minimise inconvenience and ensure safety during the race weekend.

Road Closures: Attached with this letter, please find a detailed document listing the road closures for the upcoming marathon. We understand that these closures will present temporary inconveniences, but they are essential for the safety of the runners and spectators, as well as for our race to meet the criteria set out by Abbott World Marathon Majors in order for our event to become a Major in 2024. We kindly ask for your understanding and cooperation.

Parking Solutions: To make things easier for all residents affected by the road closures, we have identified secure parking options for the race weekend:

  • Friday evening: Queens Beach Parking
  • Saturday: Queens Beach Parking
  • Sunday: Queens Beach Parking and 302 Beach Road Parking

These parking areas will be monitored with enhanced security, ensuring that your vehicles are safe throughout the duration of the event. Vehicles can exit these parking areas at any time.

We urge residents to avoid parking their vehicles on the streets highlighted in the road closure document during the times specified. Any vehicles found in the grey zones will be at risk of being towed to ensure the smooth operation and safety of the marathon.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and truly appreciate the community's understanding and support, which has been paramount to the continued success of the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon.

Thank you for your cooperation, and we hope to see many of you cheering on the sidelines, celebrating this grand event with us.

Warm regards,
Team Sanlam Cape Town Marathon
